Solar only or solar with storage?

Choose the problem to solve

A grid-connected PV system generates electricity; a storage system shifts energy and may support selected loads when designed for backup. Lower purchased units and continuity during outages are different outcomes.

Compare options against the same consumption, tariffs, operating hours and essential-load requirements. Neither option is the universal winner.

Compare the equipment and scope

Solar-only proposals need generation capacity, roof layout, protection, connection and metering scope. Solar-plus-storage adds compatible inverter/battery equipment, usable energy, backed-up circuits and transfer/isolation design.

Ask for separate equipment and installation costs, warranties, operating limits and future replacement responsibilities. Do not compare an entire backup installation against a module-only price.

Assess costs without a promised payback

Financial comparisons depend on self-consumption, applicable export treatment, fixed charges, equipment cost and storage operation. A generation estimate alone cannot establish savings.

Request a scoped proposal based on actual usage. Battery runtime and available backup power need engineering review; a product's model name does not specify your installed design.
